royal tichelaar

As the oldest company in the Netherlands, Royal Tichelaar Makkum’s history goes back to 1594. By extending its line to commissioned works by renowned artists, designers, and architects, Royal Tichelaar has been able to keep itself fresh and relevant. In recent years the company cooperated with JorngeriusLab, Jurgen Bey and Marcel Wanders merging new printing techniques with old world hand painting thereby creating a very distinctive group of ceramics. The company’s fame as producers of their extensive range of hand painted earthenware and tiles, reaches far beyond the boarders of the Dutch realm. Not limited to it’s classical and contemporary product, ceramics in architecture, restorations, as well as artistic and design commissions form equally important pillars of the company’s strength.
